Quality sport enriches the lives of everyone involved when the experience is positive and grounded in an environment of respect, inclusion, and safety. Creating these conditions is essential for athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers to thrive and remain engaged in the sport.
Conversely, negative experiences—such as unsafe environments, disrespectful behaviour, or inadequate oversight—can be harmful and may lead individuals to leave sport altogether.
The Alberta Bicycle Association’s HopOn program operates in alignment with the Safe Sport principles supported by Sport Alberta and ensures that all instructors follow the standards established by the Responsible Coaching Movement. Through these commitments, the ABA works to foster a positive, respectful, and safe environment for all participants discovering cycling through the HopOn program
