On Tuesday September 25 from 6:30-9pm, Minister McQueen will be in person at Bragg Creek Community Centre and wants to hear your thoughts regarding plans to clear cut large areas of the most popular trail networks in Kananaskis! If this area is important to you, then please attend!

This meeting will cover logging plans from Moose Mountain all the way to Bragg Creek. The plans overly a large trail network for hiking, biking and skiing in the closest wilderness recreation area next to Calgary, Cochrane and Bragg Creek.

Here are some points to consider for the meeting:

1) The information given out by ESRD is incorrect and does not reflect the wishes of the workshop participants from September 8 & 9. Many of the participants have requested that the data presented be changed to accurately reflect the results of the workshop. Despite many requests, the data has remained unchanged, is very misleading and not representative of the proposed plans.

2) ESRD is presenting five scenarios at the community meeting, which include clearcutting the majority of the trails in west Bragg Creek, as well as many trails at Station Flats. These trails include Ridgeback, Tom Snow, Special K, Race of Spades and more and most scenarios have NO PLANS for any trail mitigations.

3) Come out to the Sept 25 meeting from 6:30 to 9 pm at the Bragg Creek Community Centre (23 White Ave Bragg Creek, Alberta) and tell Minister McQueen that the current plans are unacceptable, and Trail integrity MUST be respected in FireSmart planning.

This will almost certainly be the last chance to voice your opinion to the minister prior to the logging commencing this fall. This one day will likely determine the landscape of this area for the rest of our lives! We feel that it is very important to show the community support for recreation and the need for a balanced approach with fire smart logging that doesn't decimate recreation. If at all possible, please attend. If you're unable to do so, please write a letter to the ESRD demanding that the trails in this area be protected.

please forward to anyone concerned.

Sincerely,
Shaun Peter
