                              FAQ's
For a full comprehensive list of Games FAQ's, visit the Alberta Games FAQ page. For cycling specific FAQ's, see below:

Do I need a race license or insurance to compete?
In order to compete at the Alberta Summer Games, you must obtain at minimum an Alberta Bicycle Association General Membership. If you've already joined an Alberta Bicycle Association affiliated club, you have already purchased this membership and do not need to purchase anything further to compete. If you are not a member of an affiliated club, you may purchase a U17 General Membership online here. For more information on Licensing and Membership types, click here. The purchase of an ABA membership will make sure you're insured for the event.

My son/daughter is new to racing, should he/she still try out?
Absolutely! The Alberta Summer Games Qualifier races are open to anyone with the will to compete.

How old do I have to be to compete?   See below for a full listing of age categories, and links to each sport's Technical Package.

How do I know which Zone to compete in?
Mountain Bike athletes will compete in the Zone corresponding to the city of their primary home address.

BMX athletes will compete in the Zone corresponding to the track on their license.

How can I help as a parent?
Many of the Zones Teams still require chaperones to attend the Games with the Team. If this is something you may be interested in, please do not hesitate to contact Heather Lothian at bmxmtb@albertabicycle.ab.ca

My son/daughter has qualified, what happens now?
Your Zone Representative will be in touch with you immediately to explain the registration process and any planned team outings prior to the Games.  All athletes who have qualified for their respective team will also need to complete the Final Athlete Registration online, where they will pay the $60 Games Fee. Click here to access Final Athlete Registration (coming soon)

How will my child get to and from the Games in Okotoks? Will they be fed? Where will they stay?
The Alberta Summer Games staff have all of this taken care of. If you live greater than 100km from the host community, your child will have access to a free shuttle leaving from your home zone to the Games headquarters in Okotoks, then back to your home Zone when the Games have concluded. All athletes will be fed throughout the Games both in the Athlete Village and on-venue. The host zone has also arranged accommodation for all athletes and accompanying chaperones/coaches. You've got nothing to worry about!
