2010 Track National Information

Hello Master Track Athletes!

We are currently planning for the upcoming Track National Championships in Bromont in August this summer and wanted to pass on some of the things that we are working on.

Several Master racers were contacted for their feedback on events that should be held at the National Championships and other considerations that should be factored in when organizing an event for Master Athletes.  The Master Category is a valued and important part of the track cycling community and we would like to see you all racing at Nationals.

Last year in Burnaby there were 12 athletes in 3 categories and we were looking for things that could be done differently to attract more athletes to this event.  We have factored in the suggestions that we received in creating the schedule for this year’s event, including individual championships, held on a week-end, and included with other categories.  What we have come up with this year is a compromise until the number of participants grow, which we hope will be soon!

Following are some points of changes that have been made from last year to this year and that will be published on the CCA website in the next week when the Tech Guide and Schedule are posted.

The Individual Pursuit will be a National Championship Event for all Master Categories and contested on Saturday, Aug. 28

The Scratch Race will be an Open Master Category race with one National Champion.  Should there be more than 24 entrants then there may be a race for each category.  The race will be 10 km and contested on Saturday, Aug. 28.

The Points Race will be an Open Master Category race with one National Champion.  Should there be more than 24 entrants then there may be a race for each category.  The race will be 12 km and contested on Sunday, Aug. 29.

There will be a sprint tournament for each Master Category with a National Champion named for each category on Aug. 28.

The Kilo will be contested by each Master Category with a National Title awarded to each one on Aug. 29Should there be more than 12 entrants, then their will be a Keirin tournament.
There are no Omnium events.

The Masters will be racing on the same days as the Elite. We also received information regarding the 2010 Master World Track Championships in Portugal Oct. 26-31, 2010 and thought you might be interested.  Please find attached the information that we have received.
