National Downhill Championships – Mont Sainte Anne, Quebec, July 7 - 8
Alberta has a strong group of Junior Downhill riders and we will be sending a team of up to 4 riders to the National Downhill Championships. The selected riders will receive a jersey and financial assistance. The points schedule (page 9), will be used to select riders. Riders will be selected as follows:
1. Top Junior male rider based on
points
2. Top Junior female rider based on
points
3. Top U17 male rider based on points
4. Committee selection: can be from any category
Qualifying Events:
May 20 Mt Tremblant Canada Cup DH, QC
April 28 Race the Ranch, Kamloops, BC
Qualifying Procedure
U17 male riders earn points in U17 Expert, Junior riders earn points in Junior Expert, Junior Women will earn points from the Junior women category.
Riders wishing to compete for selection, but not currently in one of the prescribed categories, may apply to the Racing Committee for a temporary upgrade. Such upgrades will be awarded at the sole discretion of the Racing Committee.
All riders must meet the minimum performance standard: finish within 106% of the winner’s time in their category in at least one on the selection events.
Any team position unable to be filled with an acceptable candidate from the designated category may be replaced with a Racing Committee selection.
Ties will be broken according to: number of 1st place finishes; number of 2nd place finishes; number of 3rd place finishes, etc.
The team will be announced by May 29th.
