2011 Cyclo-cross Provincial Team

 

The Alberta Bicycle Association will offer support to a maximum of five riders to compete at the National Cyclo-cross Championships, November 5th in Toronto. Support will consist of a cash subsidy of no less than $300 per rider, plus one piece of Team Alberta clothing. Selected riders are obliged to register and compete as “Team Alberta”.

Positions on the team will be selected as follows:

    1.         Elite Men – Top rider on UCI Points as of October 17th.
    2.         Elite Women – Top rider on UCI Points as of October 17th.
    3.         Junior Men – Top rider on Alberta Cyclocross points (Expert Category) in
                the  following (3) races: School of Cross, GP Jim Horner, and Blow Street CX.
    4.         Racing Committee Selection
    5.         Racing Committee Selection

Athletes earning selection to the team will be notified by Tuesday, October 18, 2011.

ABA Provincial Team policies for all teams

  • To be eligible for selection, athletes must be licensed members of the Alberta Bicycle Association, and must carry the designation Canadian on their licenses.
  • If a selected rider refuses his or her position on the Provincial Team, the Racing Committee may at their discretion choose to replace that rider; in the case that another rider is selected, the position will become a “Racing Committee Selection”.
  • Athletes are required to sign the Team Alberta Athlete Agreement prior to taking part in a project.
  • Athletes must wear the Provincial Team uniform when competing for Team Alberta. Riders will be given at least one piece of Provincial Team apparel for each project in which they compete.
Athletes may be selected for doping control at any of the races listed above. It is the athlete’s responsibility to become familiar with doping control procedures, and the list of restricted and banned substances. Athletes should consult the Canadian Center for Ethics in Sport (http://www.cces.ca/) for information on restricted substances, therapeutic exemptions, and other doping control matters.
